Important events in Tupac's Life:
1971
Afeni Shakur, a member of The Black panther Party, gives birth to Tupac Amaru Shakur whilst in jail on bombing charges. Tupac Amaru means "shining serpent" in the Incas and Shakur is Arabic for "thankful to God."
1986
Tupac writes his first rap at the Baltimore School For The Arts after his family moves to Baltimore, under the name MC New York.
1988
June: Tupac's family moves to Marin City, CA. Shortly after, Tupac moves in with a neighbor and starts selling drugs.
August: Tupac's stepfather, Mutulu Shakur, is sentenced to 60 years in prison for his involvement in a 1981 armoured-car robbery.
1990
Tupac joins Digital Underground as a roadie/dancer/rapper.
1991
Shakur achieves individual recognition with the album "2Pacalypse Now", on which the successful singles "Trapped" and "Brenda's Got A Baby" appeared.
As a member of the Grammy-nominated group Digital Underground he appeared on the track "Same Song" from "This is an EP Release" and on the album "Sons Of The P."
1992
Shakur appears in the Ernest Dickerson film "Juice".
1993
Tupac appears in John Singleton's release "Poetic Justice", alongside Janet Jackson.
1994
Release of "Thug Life."
Appears in "Above The Rim".
November: Shakur's New York sexual assault trial opens.
November: Shakur is shot during an apparent robbery attempt outside a Times Square music studio.
December: One day after being shot, Shakur is convicted of sexually abusing a woman he had invited to his hotel room. He is acquitted of sodomy and weapons charges.
1995
Release of "Me Against The Worl,", a multi-platinum album.
February: Sentenced in New York to 4 1/2 years in prison for sexual abuse.
May: Shakur marries longtime girlfriend, Keisha Morris.
October: After nearly eight months in prison, Shakur is released on bail by Suge Knight of Death Row Records, in exchange for a three album deal with Death Row, while he appeals.
1996
Shakur's fourth solo album, "All Eyez on Me," debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's album chart, goes on to sell over 7 million copies. The songs "How Do You Want It" and "California Love" were both top 20 singles on Billboard magazine's charts.
Appears as a detective in Orion's urban crime thriller "Gang Related".
Sept. 7: Shakur shot in Las Vegas, after spectating at a Mike Tyson fight. His manager, Suge Knight, is 'grazed' by a stray bullet.
Sept. 13: Shakur is pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m.
